Can I set a minimum duration for my runs?

Category: FAQs

Yes, this can either be done on a week to week basis or for specific days. Please see the following FAQs for further information:

How do I set a minimum run duration for a specific day?

Setting a minimum run duration too high can have unintended side-effects!

These are commonly (but not limited to) the following:

  1. Runs can be dropped. For example, instead of a desired 5 runs per week, only 4 may be planned to allow adequate recovery and reduce injury risk.
  2. Little or no speedwork. For example, the system may calculate that the stress of a speed workout of your desired minimum duration is too great, and is forced to resort to Economy runs only.
  3. Slow training volume progression. In meeting your minimum run duration, your plan is constrained whilst trying to keep your injury risk low, leading to a lengthy period before your runs can begin to get longer.

To help mitigate this issue (but not prevent) there is an upper limit on the value allowed for the minimum duration.
